Kestrel's Way
“Kestrel’s Way” is a stone mosaic and 60 ft. pedestrian bridge through the trees near the St. Vrain River in Longmont, Colorado. The artist created the bridge for a bird’s eye view of the trees—a spatial, conceptual work. The ground mosaic is made of locally gathered field stones 15 x 8 ft. and the engineered bridge is 150 ft. long. The City of Longmont Art in Public Places commissioned six of his artworks in 1995 along the 2-mile river walk, the first three by national competition, then directly by invitation for three more. The first three sculptures deal with the environment from wildlife's perspective and the second trio show enhanced human perspectives of the setting.
