Blue River Pattern
“Blue River Pattern,” is a granite glacial boulder, 4 x 9 x 7 ft., carved by the artist and one of eight elements in his “Miner’s Dream” sculpture, a historically and environmentally based landscape that leads from a playground through a plaza and into a river. The Town of Breckenridge commissioned it in 1984 after a national competition. The artist carved a tributary or tree pattern into a large boulder as a symbol of the river, knowledge and life. Water flows through the boulder, merging the surrounding environment with the art.
